Pop Color Events 2017 Year in Review

Another big year for Pop Color Events is in the books! It’s been a doozy! Business is booming and I’m even more excited for 2018, 2019 and beyond!

The year started slow, as January often does, but by February things were cooking! I celebrated a globally-inspired Bar Mitzvah at Temple Rodef Shalom.

Then in March was Olivia’s colorful, balloon filled Bat Mitzvah party at the Hyatt Regency Dulles.

April brought Tara’s under the sea Bat Mitzvah party in Woodbridge, Virginia. Then May followed up with twins! Cori and Spencer’s B’nai Mitzvah party in Beltsville, Maryland was too cool for school with an edgy venue and graffiti-inspired decor.

A busy summer brought new changes to my business with integrating new CRM systems and streamlining how I handle new inquiries.

August was my farthest Mitzvah yet! I drove all the way to Fredrick, Virginia to Belle Grove Plantation, a beautiful venue on the water. The weather was gorgeous for Michaela and Jacob’s outdoor dance party.

September was crazy with 3 back to back Mitzvahs, each one so different from the others, even though two were at the same venue!

There was Jake’s hockey-themed Bar Mitzvah party at Pinstripes Georgetown.

And Lily’s luau Bat Mitzvah party was also at Pinstripes Georgetown. I love how different the same space can look with the right lighting and decor!

Also in September was Shoshana’s sparkly silver and blue Bat Mitzvah at Rock Creek Mansion in Bethesda. Following that busy September, was a slightly slower October with my first repeat client. Maya’s Bat Mitzvah was sophisticated and heartfelt at Temple Sinai in DC.

Followed by a gorgeous around the world Bat Mitzvah for Gabriela in December. Photos still to come!

Thank you to all of my wonderful clients for an amazing year.

Cheers to 2017! Looking forward to a very full 2018! My calendar is quickly filling up, so if you’re interested in working with Pop Color Events, please contact me ASAP!

Pop Color Events Around the Internet

It’s been a little while since I’ve been published and I’m excited to share that you can find me in Mitzvah Market Magazine and in Washington Jewish Week!

I wrote an article featuring some amazing Mitzvah logos and about a super cool shared B’nai Mitzvah for 3 close friends in Mitzvah Market Magazine, their annual print publication. You can sign up to receive it in the mail here.

Then I was interviewed about Mitzvah budgeting tips in Washington Jewish Week. It was so fun to speak with their reporter and share my knowledge along with other local experts.

Lily’s Luau Bat Mitzvah Party at Pinstripes Georgetown DC

I had such a fun time working with Lily’s family for her festive Luau Bat Mitzvah party. Their laid-back vibe fit perfectly with the beachy, rustic, natural look they were going for. I find that families who choose Pinstripes as their venue, just want to have fun and boy did they! The family and their guests were dressed in their Hawaiian finest and were ready to party.

Lily’s Luau Lounge was an awesome place for the kids to hang out with its beach chair seating, comfy pallet sofa and high sharing tables with bar stools.

Stunning tropical flowers and leaves filled this party. My favorite were the centerpieces with flowers inside a pineapple. So tropical!

Guests of all ages wore flower crowns created onsite.

There were so many Hawaiian touches like the post cards which were used as a sign in for guests.

It was a pleasure to work with this family for Lily’s Bat Mitzvah party and they were pretty happy too:

The best decision we made was hiring Brynne to guide us with the bat mitzvah planning process. She kept us on schedule and her suggestions for decor, DJ, lighting, furniture, and flowers were spot on. Without her, the process/event would have been a complete disaster.

Thanks to the awesome vendors who helped make it happen and mazel tov to Lily and her family!

The Secret to the Best Bar or Bat Mitzvah Party

The secret the best Bar or Bat Mitzvah party | Pop Color Events | Adding a Pop of Color to Bar & Bat Mitzvahs in DC, MD, & VA

What kind of Bar or Bat Mitzvah party do you want to have? A rocking dance party? A laid-back, mingling and chatting party? An intergenerational party where everyone is involved?

Who is the person who is going to make that a reality? YOU! That’s right. Not your entertainment, not your MC, not your event planner, not your venue. It’s the Bar or Bat Mitzvah tween, mom and dad, and siblings who set the tone for the party.

If you want your guests dancing, you need to be dancing. If you want guests to be mingling, make sure you introduce people to each other to get their conversations started. If you want to make sure everyone is enjoying the dessert buffet, make sure you are sampling the deliciousness (and hey, it’s your family’s big day, so you can probably skip the line!). If you want to make sure the kids are excited by the MC’s games, your child needs to be excited about the games and so on.

Your guests will sense your attitude towards your Mitzvah party and that will color their experience at your party. It also doesn’t hurt to tell a few trusted friends or family members what you’re hoping for. They can step in and help to create the experience you’re hoping to have.

And it goes the other way too–if you’re stressed and anxious, your guests will sense it. If you want to be cool, calm and collected, having month-of coordination is the peace of mind to know that you’ll be able to relax and enjoy your party.

Your family sets the tone for the party you want to have. Make sure you’re setting the right one!
