Jacob’s book and library-themed Bar Mitzvah at Planet Word was an absolute joy to be a part of! This unique venue, nestled within the heart of D.C., was the ideal spot for this book-loving family. Combining literature with celebration, it perfectly captured Jacob’s passion for words and stories. What truly set this party apart was the blend of engaging activities: unexpected dancing, a custom scavenger hunt throughout the museum’s exhibits, karaoke, and puzzles galore. It was a truely interactive experience that reflected the energy and creativity of Jacob and his family.
Guests were welcomed with personalized bookmarks serving as table assignments. Each table was named after one of Jacob’s favorite books, adding a personal touch that connected every guest with his love for reading.
This theme carried through to the stunning centerpieces. Two distinct designs stood out: the first featured vibrant arrangements of paper flowers crafted from book pages in the event’s colors, carefully placed atop the corresponding book-table names.
The second design showcased trios of paper flowers encircling the featured book, with pops of green from the vases and accents of yellow and orange in the blooms.
Planet Word’s space itself is amazing. The central focus of the room is a large sphere that retracts and flattens into the ceiling. The historic character of the venue was evident in those beautiful windows.
One of the standout features of the party was the kids’ bar, set against the Word Wall backdrop, serving specialty mocktails like a yummy orange dreamsicle float.
To keep guests engaged during cocktail hour, custom scavenger hunts with prizes directed exploration through the museum’s interactive exhibits.
And no great party ends without a sweet treat: grilled donuts topped with ice cream capped off the night with a delicious flourish. This Bar Mitzvah was truly a one-of-a-kind experience!
