I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ana Martinez Chamorro, owner and photographer of Ana Isabel Photography, on several events and I cannot say enough good things! Ana is the perfect mix of professional, warm and kind, and unobtrusive during an event. She has a ton of experience shooting events of all types from Bar and Bat Mitzvahs to weddings to political gatherings (ask her about photographing VP Kamala Harris!). Read on to learn more about Ana and Ana Isabel Photography.
What was your journey to start Ana Isabel Photography?
I enjoyed the process of making photographs, originally developing my own film in a dark room. The more I did it, the more I became intrigued by storytelling, which led me to photograph for my college newspaper, The Towerlight. That’s when I began photographing portraits, which led me to photographing events. After graduating, I worked in public relations for a few years until realizing I was more passionate about photography. So I jumped full-time into my already growing business.
What’s your favorite part of what you do?
Relationships are the most important part of my business and what makes it flourish–it’s also my favorite part! I cherish the connections I make with other professionals because it feels like picking the best team every single time. These are the people that will go above and beyond in their own work and for you as you progress through your business.
What’s your pop color–that something special that makes you, you?
It’s knowing my clients know I’ll take great care of them! I always enjoy getting to know the family and capturing photos they’ll remember for a lifetime!
What’s your favorite moment of a Bar or Bat Mitzvah?
The hora is always my favorite part! It’s the moment where the Bat/Bar Mitzvah lets it all go and truly enjoys that moment! It makes for great photos!
What questions should parents ask someone in your field?
Ask for a full gallery of the event, from portraits to reception. It’s helpful to see all parts of the day so that you know the style of the photographer.
