I had the pleasure of working with Kendall Kernus, Owner & Lead Designer, of Perfectly Petalled at a recent Bat Mitzvah and was so impressed by her work. She clearly loves flowers and knows so much about them! Read on to learn more about Kendall and Perfectly Petalled:
How did you start Perfectly Petalled?
I started Perfectly Petalled in February 2019 because I have always wanted to own a business and be my own boss. I worked in a flower shop throughout high school and college, which is where I learned and grew my love for flowers, and always missed the job when I left. I have been working as an accountant for the past 4 years, and I wanted to be able to have a creative outlet with the goal of the business becoming my full-time job eventually!
What’s your favorite part of what you do?
When you are usually dealing with numbers all day, it is so refreshing to be able to do something creative with you hands like arranging flowers. I truly love the art of flower arranging as well as the business side behind it. I also absolutely love delivering flowers for an event and seeing peoples’ faces light up when they see them. It is so rewarding!
What’s your pop color–that something special that makes you, you?
I am in this business because it is one of my passions, not just for the profits. I genuinely want my clients to be happy with my product and to want to continue doing business with me! As I said before, it is so rewarding to see peoples’ reactions when they see their flowers.
What’s your favorite moment of a Bar or Bat Mitzvah?
My favorite part of a Bar or Bat Mitzvah would be all of the family that gets together to celebrate. It is such a happy occasion and it is always amazing to be a part of that.
What questions should parents ask someone in your field?
They should simply be as specific as possible in regards to what they want their flower arrangements to look like or what type of look they are going for. That way, there is a greater chance of everything being what they envision. Flowers truly provide such important aesthetics for an event, and it’s important to get the right vibe!
