I can’t believe I haven’t interviewed Howard Teger, President of NYX Entertainment & Events, yet—but better late than never. Howie has been a major player in the Mitzvah world for years, and anyone who’s been to a party with NYX knows why. His team specializes in high-energy, unforgettable events packed with personality and polish. Whether it’s MCs who know how to read a room, top-notch photo booths, club-style lighting, or sleek decor and lounge furniture, NYX is the full package. How did you get started in your business?
I joined a DJ group as a roadie, pushing gear into and out of events. Eventually, I learned to DJ and then Emcee. The process took me 10 years to become completely proficient and really good at it. That process takes as long as it takes to become a truly great professional. Years equal experience; experience equals wisdom and confidence.
What’s your favorite part of what you do?
No two clients or challenges are the same. Every day brings new ideas to realization.

What questions should parents ask someone in your field?
How can you make my party different? Provide a recent client/party that had an extremely unique challenge and what you did specifically to accomplish that goal. This answer should have nothing to do with other vendors—just what that entertainer did to make that client’s event truly unique for that child.
